Howdy Shooters,
It’s time to get ready for the OWSA “Shootout on the Santa Fe Trail #25. It will be held June 21st thru June 25th, 2010, at the NRA Whittington Center (NRAWC) in Raton, New Mexico. Yes, I said #25!! This is our 25th Anniversary Shoot and we have some special things planned to help celebrate a quarter century of the finest Old West Cowboy Shooting anywhere.
This year we will shoot our normal fun and challenging 32 Stages, where we take full advantage of the environment and scenery. We will have our hamburger/hotdog cookout on Monday night as usual, and encourage everyone to come and join in the social. OWSA also includes over 20 Side Matches spread out during the shoot Monday thru Friday at no additional cost. The NRAWC is planning to do a “Cowboy Sunday”, on June 20th that will include Shotgun and Silhouette Matches. Watch the website for information from the NRAWC.
Something new for OWSA 25th Anniversary, we will have a drawing for a gun for shooters that register early (postmarked before 5/16/2010). This year OWSA will be providing a free dinner for registered shooters during the Thursday night Award Ceremony, with additional dinner tickets available for non-shooters and guest(s) at $12.00 per ticket.
For added excitement, we will be having a drawing for a “Cowboy Quilt” that was pieced by the “Too Busy To Bee” Quilting Bee (our own Joey MacDonald, Lucinda Tincup, Lady Wolf Rambo, Idaho Sue, and Michelle Rambo). Tickets can be purchased for $1.00 per entry, and will be sold via internet and word of mouth from February 1, 2010 to June 24, 2010. The actual drawing for the quilt will be at the Award Ceremony. There will be a picture of the quilt and further information on our web site. So, as you can see…… we have a few new and fun additions to the shoot.
As we mentioned last year, effective January 1, 2010, the NRAWC increased the daily rate charged per shooter for the first time in ten years. Even with the increase, we are probably still the cheapest multiple day cowboy shoot anywhere at less than $4.25 per stage and all free side matches. Please notice there will be an increase after May 15, 2010 to late entries. See the registration page for information on fees.
